Opportunities in Dubai. Once in a lifetime things!

Hi everyone,
Dubai has given me a fantastic opportunity work wise, that I would never have had in my country. The possibility to do a fantastic job, with a great environment and meaningful, and with a no taxed salary!
I was on the press a few times last week and I wanted to share it with you

Feria de Abril in Aloft Hotel, Abu Dhabi

Last Friday, there was a party at the Aloft Hotel in Abu Dhabi. The party was nice, but it was nicer to meet up with friends and meet new people there.
The food and drinks were not very .... I make a better tortilla de patatas!
However, the hotel was great! We spent the night there, great value for money (only 3000 SPG points), amazing service and a big thanks to Anna Alonso, our host there. Service in the hotel was impecable :)

Afternoon Tea at Burj Al Arab Skyview Bar

This is a Throw-back Thursday post... the first time ever I came to Dubai. A while ago...

We went to have the amazing afternoon tea (with free bar of non-alcoholic drinks, delicious sandwiches and pastries - More like a lunch).

The food was exquisite, the views breathtaking and it's something you have to do when someone really wants to experience "Dubai luxury".

Only bad thing: super pricey. 620 AED... consider it an expensive lunch. But you have to do it at least once in a lifetime. I have done it twice :) My mother loved it!

Wakeboarding in Ghantoot Marina & Blue Marlin Ibiza

We went wakeboarding last Friday!
It was the first time ever that we did it. For me it was a bit difficult to stand up, but I managed to after 4 tries. Not bad :) Other people in the boat did it much much better (Miriam or Jordi's), but with practise comes excellence! 550 AED Per hour (capacity is 7 people)
After the exhausting boat time (and sunburning time!), we went for lunch to Blue Marlin Ibiza (next to the Wake Boarding place). The food was extraordinary (the price too: min spend per person 350 AED), but it was really really worth it. We stayed until 8 pm for drinks and music.
We will try and go again next weekend! An experience to repeat!

Barasti Beach Club

Our Friday morning tradition is go to Barasti beach club. We arrive at 10.30 maximum to get a "bed" and then we go for breakfast. They make very good scrambled eggs with black pudding (morcilla, en espaƱol!). After breakfast, suntanning with a couple of beers and just having a nice chat (or nap, as my friend did today)
Then at 2, going home for a little light lunch (today was the exception: we had a heavy lunch!) and then nap time. The perfect way to destress from the weekend.
Not very sunny day today, but we enjoyed the water and the heat anyways. Love this place!

Best Thai ever!

Thursday night. Exhausted after a looooong week at work. (That's why I haven't posted in a while_ stressful work!).
Romantic restaurant in Al Qasr Hotel, with the little canals that remind me of Venice, very good service, great ambiance, incredible Thai food, and with the man I love. What more can I ask for?
Forget the "Romantic restaurants" that everybody talks about (i.e. Paretic, amazing views, but food really not worth it, especially taking into account the price).
Pai Thai is THE romantic restaurant, with the greatest Pad Thai ever.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi

In the series of "mom visited me in Dubai, I'm so happy!", one of the activities we did was going to Abu Dhabi and visit the magnificent Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

The Mosque was opened for worship in 2007 and both interior and exterior design are breath-taking. Please, take a day off, go to Abu Dhabi, visit the Mosque and afterwards, go to have some hummus at    Emirates Palace Hotel, the restaurant is called Diwan L'Auberge, with ocean views (good price). The hotel really deserves a visit as well. Luxury all over the place.

Quads in Hatta desert

One month ago, my mother came to visit me in Dubai. One of the many activities we did together was going with Quads in Hatta Desert, close to the red dune.

There were plenty of places to do quads, we chose a specific one (I don't remember the name, I will update this post when I got back again) and we took 3 quads, one per person, with a guide. We went on a Friday, which was  VERY BAD idea, since there were a gazillion SUVs from all the people who had free day.

It was very enjoyable, no need for previous experience in Quads, and if you couldn't handle it, the guide helped you. Magnificent views and a lot of sand :)

Dolphins at the Dubai Dolphinarium

My birthday was last week and I really really wanted to swim with dolphins as my birthday present. So I got it :)
We went to the Dubai Dolphinarium (half the price of Atlantis) and we swam in an indoor pool with two super nice dolphins. I would have preferred that the pool was outdoors (like in Atlantis), but it was a nice experience anyway.
For 550 AED you swim with the dolphins for 20 minutes.

Michael Buble comes to Dubai!

Yesterday, I was too excited to write (plus it was Friday, so beer time at Barasti! but that's another story).
My favourite singer was in Dubai! It was the 4th concert of his that I had attended... and boy, did he not disappoint! Hilarious, with an unbelievable voice (the last part, which so many people missed, in order to find a taxi), left everyone speechless.
In the Cricket arena, he sang a cappella, no microphones, nothing.

this is a part of the concert on Thursday, that I sadly missed.
